Care for Aging Veterans in Charlotte NC
As people get older they might require some extra help with various tasks throughout the day. Elderly veterans are no different, and a home care aide can be a great asset.
Some people may understand how valuable home care support can be, but they might not realize where they can turn for help. Some veterans may qualify for specific pensions through the VA that can help pay for home care support. But again, some of these veterans may not know where they can turn for assistance.
Turning to the VA may very well lead to dead ends and a lot of frustration. It could take days, weeks, or even months to get a hold of somebody at the VA and still, then, the elderly veteran might not find any reasonable answers to their questions. So where can they turn?
Below are three places to consider looking into for assistance when any aging veteran requires some type of home care support and is looking for financial assistance to help pay for it.
- Home care agencies.
A home care agency that has prior experience supporting elderly veterans would be a great place to start. These agencies and the administrative staff working for them can help the veteran understand not just the value of home care aides and other services they offer, but can assist them in determining which pension programs they might qualify for through the VA.
They may even be able to help the veteran fill out the application and submit it, such as for the Aid and Attendance Benefit.
- Nonprofit organizations.
There are many nonprofit organizations all across the country that provide different types of support for veterans of all ages. Some of these nonprofit organizations may be able to offer information and assistance in filling out and filing an application for Aid and Attendance as well as Housebound benefits.
An elderly veteran who may not be savvy with the Internet or computer devices or is having a roadblock trying to find support through the VA might want to turn to family as well. These family members can certainly provide help in making phone calls, checking information online, and planning other resources available.
These family members may also be able to contact a home care agency in the area to determine availability, the services they offer, and see if that agency would be able to help this elderly veteran with their application or other specific needs.
